The Impact of Social Media on Young Minds
Year 6 Pupil Workshop
In today’s digital world, many primary-aged children are spending increasing amounts of time online—often without fully understanding the impact of social media on their thoughts, feelings, and behaviour.
We offer an engaging 60-minute live virtual workshop for Year 6 pupils, delivered by World Champion Inline Skater and wellbeing expert Jenna Downing MSc (Psychology).
This interactive session helps pupils explore:
- The difference between real life and the “highlight reel” online
- How filters and edited images affect body image and self-esteem
- The pressure of comparing themselves to “perfect” lifestyles
- How apps are designed to keep users hooked (e.g. scrolling habits)
- The impact of doomscrolling on mood and wellbeing
- Simple, practical ways to manage screen time
The workshop encourages open discussion, builds awareness, and equips pupils with the confidence to make healthier choices online. It’s delivered in a relatable, supportive style with a focus on empowerment—not fear. If this would benefit your Year 4,5 and 6 pupils, please book on via the booking form below.
